A comprehensive course designed for dedicated practitioners and yoga teachers seeking to elevate their understanding of yoga anatomy, philosophy, and breathwork. Rooted in the traditional principles of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, this intensive uses a breath-led, structured approach to movement to build clarity, strength, and sustainability in practice. Eligible for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Hours (YACEP).

 

Course Overview

Elevate Your Practice Both On and Off the Mat

Welcome to the Yoga Foundations Intensive. This course is designed to bridge the gap between attending a casual class and truly understanding the science behind yoga.

Over one day, we will break down the physical mechanics of key postures, explore advanced breathwork (pranayama), and demystify the philosophical roots of the practice. Whether you want to refine your personal practice or gain precise cues for your teaching, this course provides the clinical and traditional tools you need.

  • Dates: Saturday, September 26, 2026

  • Time: 10:00-13:00 and 14:30-17:30 (6 hours )

  • Location: YogaHeart Shala, Algés, Portugal

  • Language: The training will be offered in English or Portuguese, depending on the participants, ensuring an accessible and engaging learning experience for everyone.

  • Investment: €95 (Full weekend access, materials, and refreshments included)

This intensive is specifically structured for two types of practitioners:

For Dedicated Students:

  • If you want to move beyond just "following along" in class. This course is for you if you want to understand why we do certain poses, how to adapt them to your unique anatomy, and how to build a safe, lifelong home practice.

For Yoga Teachers:

  • If you want to refresh your foundational knowledge and expand your skills. Registered teachers with the Yoga Alliance can count this weekend intensive towards their Continuing Education (YACEP) requirements.


What You Will Master

  • Learn the biomechanics of core yoga poses. Discover how to safely align your body, prevent common injuries, and modify postures for different body types.

  • Master the science of respiration. Learn how to use specific breathing techniques to regulate the nervous system, reduce anxiety, and shift energy.

  • Go beyond the physical. Learn practical mindfulness and meditation techniques backed by both ancient tradition and modern neuroscience to quiet the mind.

  • Understand the philosophical foundation that supports your practice on and off the mat.

  • Develop the confidence to either self-correct your practice or guide others with authority, clear verbal cues, and safe adjustments.
